Social Studies Study Guide:
  • What are latitude and longitude lines?
  • What is the main line of longitude?
  • What directions do lines of longitude and latitude travel?  Which distances does each measure?
  • Which latitudinal degree is the equator at?
  • Which longitudinal degree is the Prime Meridian at?
  • Be able to label and spell all 7 continents, 4 oceans, equator, Prime Meridian, and all four hemispheres.

Plot Summaries: Exposition and Resolution



“Partly Cloudy”

Exposition Summary
In the exposition we learn about the characters, plot, and setting

"In the exposition of “Partly Cloudy”, clouds and storks are making and delivering new born creatures in a make believe sky. A rain cloud and a stork are frustrated when their new creatures aren’t like the other creatures and keep hurting the stork.  They wish they could be like the other clouds and storks with “normal” creatures."

Resolution Summary
In the resolution we learn how the main character solves the problem in the given setting.


"The stork devises a plan that will help it.  The stork decides to wear football gear to deliver the cloud’s dangerous creatures.  The cloud and stork did not mind the “different creatures”, they minded getting hurt by the interesting species."
